Sweets So Geek will be kicking off their summer free outdoor movie series with Episode VII of the Star Wars movie franchise. Three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the First Order attempts to rule the galaxy. Watch as a ragtag group of heroes, with the help of the Resistance, fights to stop them. 

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and sit back and enjoy the show. See the Facebook event page for more details. 

The event will take place in the parking lot in front of Sweets So Geek, and the movie will begin 15-30 minutes after sundown.

Touch-A-Truck

The Ivy Association for the Education of Young Children, Ivy Tech Community College Northeast's student organization for the Early Childhood Education program, is hosting its seventh annual Touch-A-Truck event. Children will be able to explore nearly 50 vehicles, which may include limos, fire trucks, tow trucks, and police cars. The event is in conjunction with the national Month of the Young Child.

North Anthony Corridor Spring Fever

It's time to spruce things up for outdoor eating, drinking, shopping, and just plain celebrating!  We're looking for volunteers to help with some spring cleaning along the Corridor, and when you're done, enjoy food and drink from our restaurants and on-site local food trucks.  There will also be live bands playing at Record Store Day at Wooden Nickel for your musical enjoyment.  

Most importantly, we'll be doing a video shoot at the former Rogers/Scott's grocery store property (3109 N. Anthony Blvd.) to help promote the site to prospective grocery store chains.  WE NEED A HUGE CROWD OF PEOPLE TO SHOW HOW MUCH OUR AREA WANTS A GROCERY STORE!   

The agenda for the day is:

  • 8am - 9pm (tentative hours): Record Store Day at Wooden Nickel
  • 11am to 1pm - corridor clean up/eat & drink
  • 1pm to 2pm - video shoot at Rogers/Scott's site (3109 N. Anthony Blvd.)

Special Cuisines Dinner Series

Ivy Tech Community College Northeast culinary students are presenting multi-course dinners centered around world-cuisine themes. Several dates are scheduled for February, March, and April with the last in early May. St. Nicholas Icon Painting Workshop

Prepare for the Nativity and celebrate St. Nicholas Day by painting a traditional Byzantine icon of "St. Nicholas" from start to finish.  This hands-on workshop is open to everyone and with any skill level.  No artistic experience is necessary.  Students will receive step-by-step instructions and all materials to paint an 8"x10" icon.  Fees apply.

Fort Wayne Commercial Facade Grant Program

The City of Fort Wayne offers a Commercial Facade Grant Program to assist businesses in making exterior building improvements which, in turn, will help revitalize the city's commercial corridors.  Eligible businesses located in an Economic Development Target Area (EDTA), which he North Anthony Corridor is, may receive a 50% matching grant (up to a certain dollar amount) toward the cost of the project.
